Sony STR-DG510 subwoofer will not work?

I just bought a Sony STR-DG510 audio receiver. For some reason the subwoofer will not work. I called Sony, but they did not help at all. Several others reviewed this receiver and said that they could not get the sub to work either. If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know. Thanks

if you are coming out of the subwoofer out, the subwoofer must be self powered, if its not then their is no power going to the sub. The sub out does not send power. And make sure the cable is good for the sub.
