This deal at circuit city sounded to good to be true. Just one thing. The amplifier doesnt seem good enough for 2 subs running at 2000 watts.

What are your opinions on this deal and maybey an option of/ another inexpensive subwoofer that I could run with it instead

  1. Sony claim 2000watts peek but that does not mean much. Sony's peek ratings are always inflated. Their woofers can only handle around 200-300 watts rms. Those woofers are not very good and that amp is too small. The person who came up with that package should be fired. It will work and it will sound OK but it is not a very good deal for $250. You can get Kicker CompVR loaded boxes from ebay starting at about $150 delivered and amps start at about $100. One 12" Kicker would crush those 2 sonys. If you are looking to stay in the $250 range I would use eBay.  Try searching Crunch amps on eBay if you are looking to put together a decent system on a budget. Good amps start at about $100 and are much better than that sony amp. The first link is to a Chruch amp that produces 250x2 watts RMS@4ohms, or 500x1 watts RMS@4ohms, it is less than $100 and produce twice as many watts as that sony. I have installed the exact amp in several  cars and have had no problems. The first Chrunch I installed was in 1998, its still going. Pair that amp with a Kicker box and you will outperform that Sony set by far, it will last longer to.
