I have a Sony Vaio as described above, the computer is roughly 6 months old and according to CHKDSK the harddrive is ok, however the sony diagnostics are detecting damage on the harddrive. I have a 2 year extended warrenty as well as the sony warrenty, what will the warrenty from best buy do regarding this issue? I am nearly certain the harddisk is somehow damaged in a way CHKDSK is not looking for, being that it is a toshiba I cannot get any software from the manufactuer of that specific piece of hardware to inspect the drive prior to conceeding defeat and handing the problem to someone else to deal with. Right now I am working with a barely restored, partially functional computer that needs to be fixed.
