Sony Vegas 7.0 Wont let me type text?

Ok,so I just downloaded Sony Vegas 7.0 and when I click 'Insert' then 'Text' the button is unclickab and greye.Help!!!!!

  1. First drag a video in the composition then add text using time line


  2. I've never done it this way, right click the video stream timeline and select "Text Media", a window should appear allowing you to type. After place it above your video with a transparent background.
