I dont really have a budget, its just a matter of saving the money to get it but it also means i want it in the near future haha, sorry thats no help. Originally i was going to purchase the a200k but then i thought about lenses and how i would want to buy a fish eye eventually. Are there any fisheye lenses that would fit the a200k? If not, then which would be the better choice: D40 or Xti?

  1. No fisheye lenses are available for either the Sony or Canon's

  2. Save a little more and buy the Sony A300. It has Live View that works with the auto focus.

Any Minolta Maxxum AF lens made since 1985 is compatible with the Sony Alpha series of DSLR cameras. You can usually find an adapter to allow the use of the older Minolta MC/MD manual focus lenses on the Alpha series.

Minolta offered a 16mm 180 degree full-frame fisheye lens for the Maxxum cameras. I think there is one on eBay so you might check.

  3. They are all good cameras, the NIkon and Canon lines of cameras, offer the most available lenses.  The XTi would be my choice of the 3 you've mentioned.  Go to http://dpreview.com and compare the 3 side by side, and read the reviews, then go handle the different cameras and buy the one which fits you best.

  4. d40 is a good camera but not as good as the a200 or xti

    It's just little outdated

you can get lots of lenses for the sony.

you can use the Sony or Minolta lens and if you buy a 30 dollar adapter you can use the really old minolta lenses.
