Sony announce new PSP Bundle, FIFA and Cars 2 included
Consumer Electronics giant, Sony, have announced another enticing offer for one of their video game specific products with the announcement of a new PSP 3000 bundle.
Very few can deny that Sony has earned itself a reputation for being slightly more on the pricey side if one was to compare it with its competitors, yet it also has a brand reputation of providing products of a superior quality as well.
That was until the company decided to buck that trend by announcing a number of deals and bundles for its gaming products. Starting off with a $299 price point for its PlayStation 3 consoles and expanding on that, it seems that Sony are giving one of their
soon to be outdated products one final marketing push.
Priced at a fairly affordable $159.99 (or rather $160, do not be fooled by the one cent difference) the bundle comes with a PSP 3000, a copy of FIFA 12 and Cars 2, as well as a 2GB external memory card.
Titled the ‘Entertainment Pack’, this is likely the last time anyone is going to see Sony promote the any of the PlayStation Portable products and yes there are quite a few; from the original PSP to the PSP 2000, the PSP 3000 and the PSP GO.
The latter may have been a bit of a disaster for Sony, yet the rest of the handheld gaming devices are still managing to sell in impressive enough numbers.
Staying objective, the deal is an attractive offer, with FIFA 12 a fairly recently released game, which has received nothing but praise. While the PSP version may be different, playing Football on the go does sound like a great way to spend one’s transit.
There is one slight catch though; FIFA 12 comes with the bundle in the form of a UMD however, Cars 2 has to be downloaded from the PlayStation Store. It is a part of the package and gamers need only enter a code, which comes with the bundle, in order to
gain access to the game.
The bundle is scheduled for release on the 15th of November just before the hectic and fiercely competitive holiday season.
There may be those who think that the move is a waste of time from Sony, yet the PSP manages to sell in consistently high enough in Japan, staying in the top three spots in the charts over there, just behind the Nintendo 3DS and the PlayStation 3.
So Sony has basically given gamers a choice of whether they want the PSP now, or whether they wish to wait for the next generation of portable gaming, the PlayStation Vita, which releases in February next year.
