TV is only 7 years old but it was a floor model so it got alot of use before I bought it. About 2 years after I bought it, it started having red and blue arched lines in the background of any dark screens. A few months ago it just started having a red flash on the screen and then shutting off.

I called a TV repair company and he told me it was my picture tube and my convergence and qouted me like $800. What im wondering is, is this something I can do on my own. At $800 I would rather just buy a new TV you know...

  1. The set you are referring to had a recall a couple years ago due to internally arching picture tubes. On this model I wouldn't even consider replacing one tube without doing all three. Cost would be way too expensive to be worth it. Averaging around 1200 dollars plus the cost of fixing the convergence circuit.
