Sony bravia 23inch (23b4050) audio problems with connecting to my hi-fi... help?

i have connected my hi-fi to my new t.v. and i have to turn it up alot more than i did for my previous CRT T.V.

it is connected through red and white in my hi-fi and into the hedphone socket.

am i doing this wrong? should it done through the red and white on the back of the t.v. to the red and white on my hi-fi?

basically i want to connect my philips micro hi-fi to my t.v. so i can have a better sound.

i hope you understnad and please help if you can.

yes, you want it to go from the red and white on your hi-fi. To the red and white on your tv. Also the output my sound so low because you have it plugged into the headphones.

the red and white connectors on the back of the tv are better than the headphone jack but the level of output varies from tv to tv
