Sony bravia kdl-40S2030 hd function doesnt work?

My friend has had this tv for a while now, and hasnt used HD on it. Recently we tried using my PS3 on the tv, fitted all the cables properly ( hdmi ), however when we went to change the input setting we didnt see HD, there was only AV1-5 and pc, and none of these showed the picutre. Whats wrong? Help is incredibly appreciated

- pull up the menu then select the setup menu

- select av preset

- select the hdmi input

- then choose an option other than skip.

after doing the procedure above, you should be able to select av4 for hdmi.
