Sony camcorder 'Movie recording disabled'

Question

I have a Sony DVD 109E camcorder. I usually use Sony RW discs but whilst on holiday in New Zealand purchased a Verbatim DVD-R Sony Compatible. It recorded fine for about 30 mins but then came up with a message ' Movie recording disabled'

I can see where material appears to have been recorded on the disc but the camcorder will not read it. If I insert a new disk everything is fine. If I put the verbatim disc back in I get the same error message and there are no scenes to playback.

I understand this may be a disc error. I did not get chance to finalise the disc so it is not recognised in either my PC or a DVD player.

Is there anyway the material on the disc can be accessed?
