Sony confirms 2013 as year of release of PlayStation 4 in UK – Video Game news
Sony’s advert in today’s edition of Metro has squashed rumours about PlayStation 4 being delayed in the UK.
According the text of the advert that became one of the highlights of today’s edition of UK’s popular newspaper, Sony’s next-generation console is slated for a 2013 release in the region.
“Now is the time. The world’s greatest players are going to entertain, create and amaze on the ultimate stage. This year a new generation will push the boundaries of play and share in moments of wonder. This year players will become legends,” read the exact
text of the advert.
The language of Sony’s latest advert regarding its new console has a sporting feel to it because it was displayed in the sports section of the newspaper. It is also hard to ignore the inclusion of the logo emphasising the company’s sponsorship of UEFA Champions
League on the advert.
Even though Sony had already confirmed that it will be releasing its new hardware in America and Japan this year, rumours suggested that the company is planning on delay the launch of the console in Europe until 2014.
The confirmation of PlayStation 4’s launch in UK comes a few days after Microsoft unveiled its next-generation console Xbox One.
Sony first made the much-awaited announcement regarding its eighth-generation console, PlayStation 4, earlier this year, February 20 to be more precise.
While the video game lovers were naturally excited to hear that a successor of PlayStation 3 is on its way, the news also came as a huge relief for the industry analysts, who have been concerned about the extended life-cycle of PlayStation 3 and Microsoft’s
Xbox 360.
The analysts had begun to fear the worst, predicting a collapse of the entire gaming industry unless Sony and Microsoft let go of their current-generation consoles and announced a new and powerful machine to keep the gamers and third-party support interested.
The gaming industry has found itself under threat because of the growing popularity of smartphones and tablets, which have begun to cater to the entertainment needs of the casual gaming market.
Nintendo has already stepped into the next-generation space with the launch of Wii U in the final quarter of 2012.
