Sony dcr vx2000 Cant load video to my computer?

Question

I bought a "i Link" cable with a USB on the other end for loading video from my vx2000 to my computer. But when i plug it to my camera, there is no "chime" or any reaction what so ever. The computer doesnt acknowledge, let alone recognize the camera.

I have XP, and it should atleast recognize the cam. But there is no reaction?

Is my camera iLink port bad?

It seems from the experiences read in answers, USB-Firewire cable have some constrainsts on video transfer. Just go for the real firewire cable so as not to jeopardize the quality of the videos from ur nice vcam.
