Sony handycam can't see? Pitch Black?

Question

I have a Sony handycam and when I turn it on to record it is pitch black and the lens cap is of. The viewfinder is also black. I don't know what wrong with it I have tried to rest it but that didn't work. You can't even watch the movies because they’re in pitch black.

you have a bad CCD imaging device, or a bad video card /circutboard in the camera.

It has to go in for repair, or just best to get a new camera

the broken one can be sold off as parts on ebay.
