Sony looking to offer incentives for pre-orders on PSN
Staying true to their progressive roots, Sony are currently working on a new approach to operating the PlayStation Network. The company is currently looking to tinker with incentives and bonuses which they would offer every time someone pre-orders something from the PlayStation Network as a bonus for their pre-order.
At the moment, the pre-order bonuses are going to be tested out on four downloadable games, which include, Street Fighter III Third Strike Online and BloodRayne Betrayal. Once those games are downloaded, then a fifth game, Payday: The Heist, will be made available for free.
The games are going to be released one week after the other, starting on August 23rd. Once all four games are purchased, before September 19th, the user will then be eligible to download the fifth game for free. Payday: The Heist is going to be sold for $20 as a stand along, however, should the four other PSN titles, costing $15 each be purchased, then the game would be made available for free.
Sony doesn’t plan on stopping just at offering extra games for free however. Should someone book their copies of games in advance, then they would be eligible to download exclusive content, including game-specific bonuses.
At the moment, the only example being made available is the one involving Street Fighter III. If the game is preordered, then the game’s boss Gill would be included into the playable characters list. The preorder window is going to be in a limited time frame and five days before the launch of the game, all orders for pre-orders would end.
There will be added perks for PlayStation Plus subscribers as well. Current subscribers of the service are going to get 20 percent off all purchases. While, other bonuses are yet to be announced.
Here is a list of the individual games that have been included in the roster for testing phase of the PSN perks service.
Street Fighter III Third Strike Online Edition
Price: $15 in North America, €15 in Europe

Bonus: Downloadable unlock for the boss character Gill
The Baconing
Price: $15 in North America, €13 in Europe

Bonus: New cooperative mode character Roesha
BloodRayne: Betrayal
Price: $15 in North America, €13 in Europe

Bonus: BloodRayne-themed item for PlayStation Home and an exclusive dynamic theme
Renegade Ops
Price: $15 in North America, €13 in Europe

Bonus: A downloadable content pack with two new vehicles and extra weapons
It is still unclear as to how this new offer system introduced by Sony will affect their sales on PSN, but should their future offers come with even bigger bonuses, their sales might just start hiking.
