Question:

Sony rdr-hx710 HD/dvd recorder, keeps complaining that DISC IS DIRTY!?

to me it seems when the HD is full it overwrites "bios" data and even when writing is supposed to be TO the HD it says it's dirty.

usually pulling the plug and restarting it will solve it temporarily, but now it's gone completely. when putting a NEW -R disk it formats it, says it's finished and when trying to write to it now will say it's faulty and rejects it. It makes them all unusable. will not accept +RW anymore but will write (did!!) to them if they are formatted on another (sony 720!)

now there is no way for me to empty it as I can't put a partly written-to DVD -R in anymore as it formats it when inserted and then rejects it. put back into the 720 it's rejected unusable as the format was probably made (it seems empty looking in the computer and I lose prerecorded data now. anyone an expert please HELP....
