Sony receiver wont turn on?

I bought a Sony receiver about 3 years ago (model STR-DE497) and it BLEW making a loud popping noise and stopped working due to the power in my house going out as I was playing music.

It wont turn on at all now, I get nothing from it, it's useless...

Can someone give me some feedback on the problem and how much it will cost to get fixed(i bought if for $450)..?

You probably had a surge when the power came back on which caused a capacitor or relay to explode. If it's minor and obvious damage it might cost a $100 or so to fix. If the damage isn't obvious or something more major is affected it could cost several hundred or more. In any case it's not worth taking it in. You could get a used one on Ebay or a new model for less than it would cost to repair it. They would probably charge you a lot just to look at it and diagnose what the problem was.
