Sony vegas with zr850?

Question

I have a zr850 and sony vegas 8.0 but when i plug the camera in and turn it on, the computer(PC) doesnt read it. do i have to use the crappy canon disk the camera came with? is it possible to transfer video onto a computer with the provided USB cable or do i have to get the firewire cable?

You'll need a firewire cable. It should be 4-pin on one side and mostly likely a 6-pin for your computer.

They're everywhere on ebay for $4, and they're only  about 8 bucks at places like Best Buy and Walmart.

When you hook it up and turn on the camera, Vegas will have no problem finding it.
