Sonya Sorich looks forward to reduce her half-marathon finishing time
Running a marathon or a half marathon is no child’s play. The only people who opt for it are the ones who have passion for the sport and who also maintain their bodies to a certain physical standard.
However, for the runners, who have built the stamina to hit the finish-line, the quest for reducing their finishing time begins. Sonya Sorich is one of all such runners.
Sorich, a reporter by profession, always found herself incapable of completing a half marathon distance. But when she did it once and shared her accomplishment with her friends, besides appreciating her, the most important thing all of them dwelled on was
how fast she did it.
Following her passion for the game, the part-time runner did not take long to embark on a full-fledged half marathon.
Now she is a content athlete who covered the distance for Soldier Half Marathon in less than two hours and thirty minutes.
Like all other runners, the girl is now facing the challenging question of whether she can do it any faster.
Apparently, it does not seem possible for her to finish any faster. Instead of focusing on her speed, all what she thinks about throughout the races is the annoying clock that seems to be ticking faster than ever.
Not only this, her passion for clocking a faster finish is also marred by the blog writers who jump to giving tips for running a marathon without having the practical knowledge to do so.
All they do is discourage the runners by stating that gaining a faster momentum is one of the hardest tasks runners are faced by.
Also, having her friends’ questions regarding her finishing time in mind, she is further perplexed about how to achieve the faster finish at the earliest.
Perhaps the factor she is unable to understand is that fast finishes do not come at once, they demand sustained and regular efforts.
To her, the bigger question should be whether she is capable of embarking on longer distances? If she can do that, she will surely develop running stamina – a prerequisite for hitting the finish-line faster. Once she is capable of doing it, faster times
will automatically follow.
