Soo Teck Zhi maintains winning run at National Circuit Kedah Open 2013 – Badminton news
Soo Teck Zhi, an aggressive player from Malaysia, maintained his winning run and reached into fifth round of Boys Singles D2 category at the 1st leg of Maybank National Circuit Kedah Open 2013 on Thursday, May 30, in Malaysia.
In the fourth round, Soo Teck overpowered his lower ranked team-mate Scott Tsang Qi Cong in a convincing fashion.
The in-form Soo Teck, who is the top seed in the Boys Singles D2 category, played with superb speed and control that enabled him to tame his un-seeded opponent in a commanding fashion in just 29 minutes.
Soo Teck grabbed the first game without facing any problem. However, he had to dig into his arsenal in the following set and he finished off the job in straight sets with a staggering margin of 21-7 and 21-18.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Scott Tsang could not play positively in opening set but fought very hard in the second game. However, he failed to control the pace in ending points and lost the match with a reasonable margin.
Soo Teck performed extremely well from the initial points of first set as he played with amazing speed and grabbed the control.
The aggressive Soo Teck showed that he has attained top quality skills in the arena and eventually successful in getting a strong position in the arena.
It was Soo Teck who showed no respect to his spirited rival in the first half and secured a tremendous lead in the arena.
The battle proceeded in the same way after the mid-game interval as Soo Teck did not lose his control in the arena.
Soo Teck did not slow down the pace of the game at any stage and easily bagged the first game with a stunning 21-7 total on the board.
However, it was a completely different scenario in the following set when the lower ranked Scott Tsang showed his brilliance and managed to stay close to his rival at the opening stage.
Until the break, the higher ranked Soo Teck tried his best to dominate the pace but failed to set up any considerable gap on the board.
After the interval, Soo Teck changed his tactics and started to play parallel game. He did not let his rival play freely and managed to win the game with a close margin of 21-18.
