  1. If it is hairy, clip it.

Bathe it with a color enhancing shampoo

    Curry curry curry!

Make sure (hunter/jumper) the mane is pulled to an appropriate length.

Feed flax seed cookies (shiny coat!)

Show sheen to make tail manageable and gorgeous

    Paint hooves

Baby powder (or white shoe polish) on white socks to brighten them up.

Baby oil on muzzle to give it that soft shine

Use a towel as your last step in grooming to remove any excess dust and give the last little shine

    just a few :)

  2. well, for my shows... gaming... looks don't matter none, but i still like to make a good presentation. sometimes i give em a bath, which doesn't work well at all unless i put her in a stall directly afterwards, i groom like normal (curry then dandy/ body), and for fun (usually for fair) i put glitter on her butt. what my trainer does is she bathes, then puts a sleazy or sheet w/ hood on and keeps them in the stall overnight. this is all the day before. we also braid the mane... keeps our fingers from getting tangled up in it.

  3. depends on show.  i always just gave a good bath and brushing.  some you have to braid mane and tail.  have special cuts in body.  markings on the rear.

  4. I generally bath them in morning, plait and bun up mane plait tail, clip day before or few days before if you want to but I prefer my horses hairy!! Hoof oil once at show and rub them over with a damp cloth before I go into ring. clean eyes nouse etc. clean tack night before.

  5. This is what I do, I will clip or trim the bits that need attention (feathers, whiskers, ears) then bath my horse twice once to get the dirt and grime off and the second wash to thoroughly cleans the coat, I put whitning shampoo on the white bits, I use hair conditioner on the tail too as it goes really really nice, then when they are dry depending on the competition or classes entered I will plat the mane and tail, bandage up the tail, put whitning make up on the socks and bandage over night. I use coat shine all over and thats it really till the next morning! My horse lives out and usually if I turn him back out after all this is done he will come in the same in the morning but if I were to stable him the plats would all be ripped out he'd have poo all over himself too. He likes to be free lol!

  6. it's been a while. . . but what we used to do:

wash all the horses going the day before, put their hair up in braids (to keep it up), clip them(muzzle/feet), clean out their stalls.

next day wake up early, spot clean them(they always find the one pile to roll in), rebraid their hair, take them to the show.

rebrush them, show shine them, use baby oil around eyes and nose, and use a clear show polish on their hooves. . .

go to pratice ring and warm up. then rebrush them and touch up their hooves before going into a class.

  7. Clip ears, fetlocks, and any white markings on the legs.

Give him a nice bath with either Mane & Tail or color enhancing which ever is handy.

Once he has been rinsed spray him with Vetralin Spray (simular to Show Sheen but you can spray on there coat...I LOVE THAT STUFF it makes my horses coat beautiful ^^)

Let him  dry in the stall and don't put him outside or he will rol o.O lol

Pull his mane (English) for the correct length

    Trim tail if needed

I think that is it :)
