  1. you should definitely increase your mileage before the XC season begins. "having plans" on the weekend isn't an excuse. wake up early to get a long run in.

  2. You need to add some variety into your workout. It is good that you run daily, but try to shake it up a little bit. You can increase your mileage one day and then the next day work more on speed work. Try to do something on one day over the weekend to stay in shape and then you can take the other day off. Good luck with cross country next year!

  3. eventually you might want to increase your mileage. add like 1-3 miles a week. that way your endurance will build up and you'll really stay in shape. also, you should probably do some faster runs like repeats when cross country season gets closer.

  4. 3 miles 5 days a week is good for staying in shape, but as the cross country season approaches, increase your mileage. Add just a mile each week so that the extra mileage won't feel too overwhelming. It will also help you to maybe do at least one speed work out a week. Start out with a set of 4 400s, a week, and then increase the number of 400s when you feel ready. As for core work, crunches are good, and leg slides, scissor kicks, and planks will help you do. Keep this up, and you'll likely be ahead of the game when cross country starts.

Hope this helped, and good luck with your season!;-)

  5. You need to do a lot more than 3 miles.  It'll keep you in decent shape but not for cross country.  My cross country team goes up to 14 miles a day.  Add up milage gradually.  Do it too fast and you'll get injuries.

    Hills work too. [:

    I love hills<3

  6. well its ok to take a break on the weekends and stuff. but you might want to start to get the mileage up. i know for my team we start running 5 miles a few days after tryouts. you might want to get up to like 6 or 7 miles before the season starts. and may want to run at least a mile or 2 one day on the weekend. just dont skip 3 days in a row or you go back to day one. it will be like you were never training to run.

    good luck!
