  I use ERA & have for many years. My Mom uses Era,also. It's the best for getting grass stains out of the boy's baseball uniforms plus many other stains.

I use whatever kind of liquid detergent is on sale cheapest.   Otehrwise, I buy a generic one at the grocery store is a big jug (64 oz, I think) and it costs either $2.49 or so.   Also, instead of using the whole capful, which is overkill, I use only about 1/4 cup per load (regular toploader machine).

just about any laundry soap will do if you use the oxy stuff w/it, but for myself i use purex mountain breeze w/the oxy stuff. for whites, put them through a cold water rinse first then wash and allow to soak for 10 minutes before rinse
