Sookie Stackhouse will be looking to keep the good times rolling in her next start at Calder
Owned and trained by Gary G Jackson, 3-year-old filly Sookie Stackhouse is a Florida bred daughter of Red Bullet, out of mare First Time Byar by Byars, has mostly enjoyed racing in the 2011 season despite being introduced as a 2-year-old, Sookie Stackhouse failed to break her maiden and move on with her racing career.
Trying her luck for the fourth time this year in a maiden special weight race, Sookie Stackhouse finally managed to break out of the maiden special weight limbo and into the world of starter and allowance claimers.
Since breaking her maiden, Sookie Stackhouse participated in 9 more races with distances ranging from five and a half furlongs to seven furlongs. She managed 5 wins out of those 9 starts and twice finishing on the money and twice finishing off the board.
The M G Stables owned Sookie Stackhouse has raced 10 times in her career at the Calder race course, and now she is ready to run there again where she will participate in a starter/allowance feature at Calder on 18 November, 2011, under jockey Juan Leyva for the first time.
The 18 November starter/allowance will be run over a distance of six furlongs, which without a doubt stands as Sookie Stackhouse’s favoured distance.
Last time around, Sookie Stackhouse ran over the same distance at Calder and came out as the winner when she rallied from last five to win an optional/allowance going last out on 29 October, 2011, under jockey Jose Garcia who guided the filly to cover the distance in 1 minute and 11.95 seconds.
There will be a number of fillies and mares on 18 November at Calder who would be looking to stop Sookie Stackhouse from repeating the 29 October, 2011, performance, but one 3-year-old filly who poses a considerable threat to her ambitions to the win the race is, Devilish Lady.
Finishing off the board in her last three starts, Devilish Lady is a graded stakes winner at Calder racecourse when she landed the Grade 3 Azalea Stakes on 9 July, 2011, at about 6 furlongs under D Centeno to cover the distance in 1 minute and 11.70 seconds.
