  1. Just use a big scraper like you would use for wallpaper. You sometimes have to chisel off the adhesive from the ceiling but the tiles brake off easy

  2. They are usually fixed with dabs of adhesive in the corners and centre - use a spatula to lever one tile off starting in the centre of any side and then carry on until you done them all. The adhesive may fetch some of the ceiling plaster off - if so, get someone who knows what they're doing to re-skim the ceiling and give you a clean start.  Just treating the spots will be noticeable unless you are going to paper the ceiling.

If the ceiling tiles are not polystyrene but a composite material that might contain asbestos, don't attempt to do this yourself as it may be severely injurious to your long-term health to do so.  Get a professional opinion first if the tiles are not polystyrene.

Either way, you'd be wise to wear googles and a dust mask while you are doing the work. Goggles will protect your eyes while you are working above your head, and the dust mask will prevent you from inhaling dusts that might be injurious.

  3. I know this is going to sound silly but,Use a shovel,Not the digging kind the ones with a flat edge,Scrapes tiles of very easily.Sand paper the glue off.

  4. I've actually had to do this and the best thing possible is a wall paper steamer and wall paper scraper.  Oh and a hot bath, painkillers and a take away, 'cos you are going to be sore!
