And I'm just wondering, is it normal to not know when you have lunch or anything about your locker (that means the number, combo, where it is...) until the first day?

Now I went to orientation and they didn't say a thing about either subject. One of my friends figured out that we have different lunch shifts for each day. (As in on A days I might eat during the last shift but on B days I eat during the first shift.) But other than that we don't know squat.

  1. You should've probably found that out at orientation, but, depends on the school. It may be normal to not know until the first day.. at my school, freshmen get their lockers, locks, and meet the teachers for their classes, etc during orientation.

  2. Yeah, our school in east VA has 4x4 block too. It sounds like you have the schedule a neighboring school of ours has,

Do you have 4 classes a day, every other day... than a different 4 on the other day?

If so, lunches are usually determined, like someone said, by your A day 3rd period.

Ours (lunch) changes on second semester (meaning we must leave friends halfway thru the year)

Anywho... lockers are usually finallized once enrollment stabilizes, like the second or third day of school... then there are fewer surprises for the administration.

  3. At my school we have a block schedule, which means we have 4 classes a semester so our lunch schedules are determined by our 3rd period teacher. Whoever you have 3rd period for a teacher (it might be 4th, 5th in your school depending on how many periods you have) is when you go to lunch. You dont find out about lunch until the first day, So don't worry about it.

You dont find out about lockers until the first day in homeroom. Usually your locker will be beside the people in your homeroom and the teachers decide where it is.

  4. They explain this all on the first day. I went to orientation and they didnt tell me nothing about lunch. In our first period the teacher explained everything we needed to know and then in most of my other classes the teachers repeated everything. I had 5 classes before lunch and 1 class after (i ate the last lunch period). We have 4 different lunch periods, one for freshman, one for sophomore, one for juniors, and one for seniors.
