Soopacal expected to bounce back into form in the 32redbingo.Com Handicap
Twelve, three-year-old and above runners have registered for the Class 6 32redbingo.Com Handicap on Monday, 23rd July at Southwell over seven furlongs. The prize money set for the race is £1,772 but, there are not many who will be in form to claim it.
Captain Rio’s seven-year-old bay gelding, Soopacal, is being viewed as the entry with potential to improve from what he did on the track the last time.
The provision for the expected improvisation stemmed from his impressive performance at Hamilton.
The seven-year-old bay gelding has raced ten times ever since the 2012 calendar rolled out. His best ranking until now is the second position, as he has failed to rank higher than that.
The Brian Ellison trained raced his seasonal debut on 12th January, 2012 in the Bet At Blue Square Apprentice Classified Claiming Stakes at Southwell over five furlongs.
Sent as the favourite, he finished as a runner-up, while the race was won by, Upper Lambourn.
It was after the gap of seven races that the bay gelding out of mare, Fiddes, ended second in the John Smith’s Extra Smooth Handicap on 14th July, 2012 at Hamilton over six furlongs.
Soopacal was paired up with jockey, Dale Swift, for the race. The two drew from the ninth gate and got on to chasing the leaders initially.
He took the decisive second position when there remained the final two furlongs and then challenged the winner inside the concluding furlong and lost the winner’s spot by the margin of 1 ½ lengths.
The other joint favourite, Sparking, won the race with jockey, Richard Kingscote.
The most recent try for the seven-year-old bay gelding was in the Bet Toteplacepot Text Tote To 89660 Handicap on 17th July, 2012 at Southwell over five furlongs over standard surface.
Soopacal finished fifth as the race was won by, Just Like Heaven.
His second score at Hamilton was over six furlongs, and an additional furlong today is not too much to ask from the Paul Trainor bred.
The Brian Ellison trained will become the mount for jockey, Dale Swift, and if the duo will be able to perform at par with what Soopacal achieved at Hamilton or not will cbe revealed soon.
