Soorya namaskars instead of walking?

will doing soorya namaskars be as good or an equivalent option for a regular brisk walk? If yes, how many namaskars equal approx 1 km of walk?

  1. Both of them hav their own importance n benefits. We cant compare them...so better to follow both of them.

There is no comparison between walking ans Sooryanamaskara.  Sooryanamaskara is a complete exercise in itself and the whole body gets complete exercise and toning and spiritual benefits from the namaskara.   It is not only a complete exercise, mantras like Om hrim,hram, hrum, hrym,hrum, harah: has to be recited alongwith the twelve different names of Surya, like Arkaya namah, Savitrey Namah etc. in the precribed form to accomplish this regime and therefore it is more ritualistic than an exercise regime.  It is hard and rigorous and the fruits are beyond physical.   Walking is a physical exercise confined to the function of the legs.  There is no comparison at all.

  4. surya namaskar helps allot ....increase it day by day till 108 surya namaskar a day ...whn u hav practice of doin it ..108 wont take time more thn 15 -20 min ...streach properly while doin it ....it will benefit more thn walking 1 km ....it help develop stamina ..flexibility ..and much more
