I have a white gazebo the keeps getting covered with a sooty mold which is very hard to clean off. There are three crab apple trees with a similar mold on their leaves. Does anyone know of a prevention or cleaning method for this??

PS I am POSITIVE the it is not shotgun or artillery fungus!

  1. I've used 1/2 bleach and 1/2 water to kill mold but you have to let it on the spots for a while so the bleach can work and it is not really easy.  More sunshine on the woodwork would prevent the mold in the first place.

  2. Check out the remarkable research on toxic mold removal done by environmental expert Dr Ed Close.

You might consider using the Thieves Household Cleaner that Dr Close suggests for his remediation clients. I know people who have sprayed their house plants with the diluted cleaner and have successfully solved the fungus issue without harming the plants.

Use a stronger dilution on the gazebo.
