Sophie Gustafson likely to regain momentum in 2013
Swedish Sophie Gustafson could not cap off the 2012 season in winning style, but her past performance on the LET (Ladies European Tour) has been phenomenal.
Gustafson capped off a solid campaign in the 2010 and 2011 season, with most of her rivals struggling to prove their worth on the Tour. The Swedish star, despite all the hype and passion,
failed to impress her fans in the recently concluded 2012 season.
However, the 2013 season is likely to see a much more resilient Gustafson who will pose a serious threat to competitors. Gustafson will be battling rivals in the first tournament of the
2013 season—Volvik RACV Ladies Masters.
The Volvik RACV Ladies Masters is scheduled to be held from February 1-3, at RACV Royal Pines Resort, Queensland, Australia.
Despite a brief performance slump that saw her miss the cut in three out of total 6 tournaments she played, the LET titan is confident.
Moreover, all the fan fury and concerns that she been facing since her crash-down in tournaments will likely be dispelled as soon as she comes face-to-face against rivals in Australia,
Overall, Gustafson has shown the world that she still a lot of golf left in her, and she is trying to capitalise on this. She has notched up a total 14 LET titles so far—something that makes
her stand out in the lineup.
Gustafson has been practising hard on the range, and has managed to fix most of the flaws in her putting and swing. In one of her recent interviews, the Swedish golfer said that she has
learned to control her nerve on the course, which is proving productive for her game.
“It is more thought-through which I’m not sure is a good thing though. Playing reckless is very freeing, I think the older we get the more careful you are. I believe that hurts more than
helps in golf,” she said.
Gustafson’s performance in major tournaments has been great. The Women’s British Open has seen her finish second twice.
“I like links courses. I like the imagination you have to have to play different shots. I love playing in the wind, it makes the game so much more interesting”.
