1. Quotes are never changed to the present tense. It's only your own words that are. You can still use a quote from the forward- give its page number in Roman numerals.

  2. I don't see why you couldn't the quotes in the front of many books are what inspired the writer to create the book and often are inherent to the story. AS for the quote use it in your opening paragraph and work from there in the present tense.

  3. your welcome!! But, I cannot help you because your teacher gets mad when i help. But, thx for 2 pts. You will copy word for word

  4. you should be able to use the quote, just make sure you cite the source correctly. Give credit to the person who wrote the foreword if it is a different person than the author of the book. Your own writing has to be in present tense, but the quote doesn't. Just make sure you use quotation marks to show that it is a quote from some one else. and if you have trouble with citing you can go to http://citationmachine.net/ for help

  5. Short answers, yes, you can use it, no don't change the tense.

Depending on which citation style your teacher wants, (APA, MLA, Whatever the h**l you feel like style) the method of citing a foreword will be different. If the foreward is from the same person who wrote the main text, I would say no problem, just cite it normally. If not, I would do something like "forward author, forword in whatever the book is."

For putting in the paper, do something like " As so-and-so says in whatever-book "quote as it is in the book".
