Soprano to return to form in Bet With The Dewhurst Ring Bookmakers Handicap Hurdle at Perth
Things are getting hot at Perth, as the venue has come up with an exciting card on Wednesday, September 26th. One of the most thrilling events of the evening will be the Class-3, Bet With The Dewhurst Ring Bookmakers Handicap Hurdle, scheduled
to begin at 17:05 GMT.
On good to firm, thirteen giants will lock horns, pursuing a handsome prize worth £4,549. It will be run over three miles and 110 yards, thus every contestant need to be good with stamina.
With so many dangerous horses in the pack, it is hard to make a prediction. Yet, Soprano gets our vote following his decent effort last time. His latest run on the Flat was good enough to suggest that he could return to the winning ways today.
Owned by Johnnie Delta Racing, the 10-year-old suffered a couple of awful defeats early in the season. After collecting a lot of embarrassment at Carlisle, where he was 10th in the Lloyd Mini Handicap (Pro-Am Lady Riders' Race), the veteran runner
raised his game to get a notable place last time.
The audience at Musselburgh saw him securing the fourth rank in a very tough competition. Under Graham Lee, the 7-1 chance at one stage was in a great position to aim for the top prize, but he found a few too strong in the final stages.
As a result, he missed the podium by one and a quarter lengths. Beating the 9-4 favourite, Petella, by 3¾ lengths was a significant achievement though. The son of Sendawar was successful on his previous visit here last year.
Flying Doctor will prove to be a tough competitor. Trained by Alistair Whillans, the 9-year-old returned to form with a couple of fascinating victories last month. He certainly deserves a lot of respect. Bondage recently made a few consistent outings, but
we expect him to do well only in defeat today.
The in-form, Flying Doctor, is likely to make this journey problematic for rest of the pack. But one horse who can respond well is Soprano. An exciting battle between the two daredevils is on the cards.
