Gajdosova had struck many strong ground shots hitting the baseline and accomplished to win a praiseworthy 60% of her total service points, while the Romanian was only able to return averagely and had attained a 40% win of her total
returns.
Gajdosova gained another statistical edge by breaking her opponent’s serve thrice, while Cirstea was only able to win 1 out of the 6 break points.
Cirstea was not a competent player for the world number 31 (Gajdosova) and winning 60% of her total returns in the set completely crushed her adversary. She eventually bagged the set by restricting her opponent to only 3 games
in the set.
Attaining a comprehensive win in the first set, was as easy as pie for the Aussie and so everyone was expecting her to bag yet another effortless victory in the second and close the game. However, that did not happen, instead the
Australian saw a complete reversal of fate and although, she put a good fight she lost the second set after winning only 4 games.
21 year-old Cirstea was not to give up the set easily and did some damage control on her serve by not throwing as many double faults as in the first. Even though, she had 30% of her first serves on target she won 80% of her first
serves and a 70% of her second return which aided her in accomplishing a commendable 58% of her total set points.
On the contrary, Gajdosova plummeted in her serve and return serve, hence, she was only able to attain a 41% and a 42% in her total service points and total returns points respectively and lost the set with 10 fewer points than
her rival.
After bagging a set each the players had battled it out for the third set but the 24 year-old Aussie saw a comprehensive defeat at the hands of the world number 93 (Cirstea), who restricted her opponent to only 2 games in the set.
With a meticulous precision the French struck zero double faults and was able to achieve an average 57% of her total service points but her return serve was an amazing display of well positioned drop shots that assisted her in
achieving a praiseworthy 62% of her total return points.
Sorana Cirstea was able to secure a berth in the second round of the event by accomplishing a good 9 more points than her Australian opponent.
