Sorana Cirstea expels Aleksandra Krunic in 2nd round – Tashkent Open 2011
Opening the second round of Tashkent Open 2011 was Sorana Cirstea contending against qualifier Aleksandra Krunic. The two duelled on hard court of the Olympic School Tennis Courts in Tashkent. Romaine Cirstea came out victorious
in straight sets of 6-3, 6-4.
As the two players walked towards the court the crowd cheered for both the players. The chair umpire flipped the coin and opening the initial set was Cirstea. As she smashed two successive aces she bagged the first game without
much opposition. Cirstea broke her opponent during the second game and as she held her serve in the third she took a lead of 3-0. Krunic was a little late in realizing, and in the fifth game won on her serve for the first time. Krunic then went on to breaking
her opponent in the following game but Cirstea broke back  in the next game and took a mini lead of 4-2. As she held her serve in the seventh game she secured a 5-2 lead. Allowing Krunic to only hold another game in the ninth game Cirstea held her serve and
clogged the first set.
After taking a beating in the first round, Krunic tried her level best to muster the numbers and avail the break point opportunities, however, she still lost because of numerous unforced errors and one costly double fault.
Opening the second round of the match was Krunic and unfortunately she was broken in the first game as her backhand goes wayward. Cirstea holds her serve in the second game and reels off a 2-0 lead. In the third game Krunic makes
a slow come back and wins her first service game. The qualifier then breaks Cirstea and avenges her loss to equalize the score at 2-2 but not allowing Krunic to gain an upper hand Cirstea breaks back to and eventually holds her serve to take a mini lead.
In the eighth and ninth game the two again break each other back-to-back but with a break up, Cirstea serves for the match and by smashing a sizzling ace she seals her victory.
Sorana Cirstea, a titlist here in 2009, made a sturdy return coming to the event after a break of three years by knocking out second seeded Bojana Jovanovski in the opening round of the Tashkent Open 2011. She now moves into the
quarterfinal to play sixth seeded Alla Kudryavtseva.
