Soraya De Visch Eijbergen beats Anna Thea Madsen to win the crown at Under 19 Six-Nations 2012
Netherlands’ upcoming shuttler Soraya De Visch Eijbergen delivered a spectacular performance and won the Women’s Singles crown after toppling the higher ranked Anna Thea Madsen of Denmark in the title match of Under 19 Six-Nations 2012 in Germany, on Monday,
April 9.
The second seed Soraya delivered stunning performance in the final contest when she put up tremendous show of flawless badminton and thrashed Anna, who was top seed in Women’s Singles main draw of the tournament.
On the other hand, the top seeded Danish shuttler failed to live up to expectations in the game and remained struggling in the entire fight. She lost the final battle in straight games without impressive in the local fans.
The second seeded Dutch shuttler started her campaign in an inspiring manner as she played with precision and managed to remain equal to her higher ranked opponent who was playing at her best speed.
Both ladies played positive badminton and no one could get into a commanding position until the mid-game interval in the opening game.
After taking rest for 60 seconds, both shuttlers again started to play attacking badminton and did not let each other to set up a reasonable lead.
However, in the ending points of first set, Soraya controlled the pace and executed fabulous strokes in the right areas. She managed to dominate the pace and grabbed ending points to win the game with a tight difference of 21-19.
In the second game, Soraya was everywhere in the court as she took an early lead by playing with extreme aggression. She did not let her opponent to find her flow and managed a wonderful gap until the end of opening half in second game.
After the break, Anna tried to employ her attacking shots but failed to take the bird early and remained struggling against her in-form Dutch opponent.
The second seed Soraya continued her impressive performance in the final match while remaining fully focused in the court. She easily won the second game with an inspiring 21-13 margin on the score board.
Soraya emerged as winner of the title after beating her Danish rival in the final contest with an overall margin of 21-19 and 21-13.
