Sorcery for the PlayStation 3 is still under development, Sony shows off PlayStation Portable Dual Packs
After months of silence and being kept in the dark, there is finally some news on, what seems to have become a forgotten name for the PlayStation 3 console, Sorcery.
A PlayStation 3 exclusive title, that would harness Sony’s PlayStation Move motion controller, Sorcery was one game that stood out. Mostly because the motion control system was not tacked on, nor was it a case of being developed with conventional controllers
in mind and then having motion control features added to it as an afterthought.
Sorcery was designed exclusively with the Move in mind, and it showed. Anyone who had given it a shot at the various demo booths in a number of conferences, over the past year, were impressed. The game then seemed to go into hiding as there was no information
on the game for quite some time.
Many even began to believe that the project had been scrapped, like most titles do when they go into silence. Luckily for everyone that is not the case as Sony’s Public Relations Executive for the United Kingdom, Hugo Bustillos, gave the gaming world a reason
to be more than just a little optimistic, when he stated, “Yes, Sorcery is still in development.”
The news also put to rest any rumours that seemed to indicate that Sorcery had been incorporated into another PlayStation 3 Move title, Medieval Moves. The latter was shown off at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) and the similarities between
the two titles seemed to indicate that Sorcery may have been adapted into the new title.
Luckily, fans of witchcraft and wizardry need not fear, as it seems certain that the two projects are separate from each other.
Sony are yet to confirm a release date for either of the two titles, yet more news can be expected at GamesCom, which takes place in August.
Sticking with the PlayStation, but delving into the world of portable gaming, Sony has announced their line-up of Dual Packs for the PlayStation Portable. Priced at $14.99, each pack will hold two of the PSP’s best games.
The move seems to come prior to the launch of the next generation in Sony’s handheld gaming technology, with the PlayStation Vita expected to hit markets in the near future. The Dual Packs will look to squeeze in a few more sales before the launch of the
PS Vita and with combinations of games such as Secret Agent Clank and Daxter; it is hard to think otherwise.
Yet the favourite has to be Syphon Filter and Killzone: Liberation Dual Pack, as both were huge hits on the Sony’s portable gaming device.
The Dual Packs are expected to hit markets later this week, or players can opt to download them via Sony’s PlayStation Store, if they feel the walk to the store is too much of an effort.
