Question:

Sore Throat and Other Symptoms?

I started to get a sore throat recently, I thought it was due to my habit of sleeping with my mouth open/snoring/keeping the fan on, but my nose became plugged, I started feeling sinus pressure, I also started to get headaches, and the sore throat started to get worse. It feels like I have a fever, but my face is still cool to the touch, which is quite the odd feeling, really. I thought it might be allergies, because I'm not aching or anything like I usually am when I get a cold. What should I do to ease the pain?

  1. Regarding feeling of a FEVER and been cool to the touch, it happened exactly to at least four of us in our household. Unfortunately one ended up in hospital due to previous heart and lung problems and fact she's a senior citizen. But still, even if you're young and this is this horrific flu which will make your mouth (inside and out) as if burned with hot soup, and develop fever blisters without having a fever, among other things, PLEASE keep an eye out for worsening symptoms.

MEANTIME keep hydrated with plenty of water, not too-acid juices, NO SODAS, and eat healthy food, such as vegetables, chicken, fish.

Most importantly don't exercise even if you feel good enough to do so!!! Having gotten diluged with rain didn't kill me, but having walked many blocks under the sun to and from different places, did exhaust me incredibly and finally sent me to bed for at least two days!!!!

  2. Gargle with salt water during the day to help ease the pain of the sore throat, if you can tolerate that.  It could also be coming from a nasal drip -- that is QUITE possible and in that case, you would need some allergy medicine like Benedryl or Zyrtec or Claritin, etc.  Very possible that you have an allergy or sinus headache - I get them too.

As far as feeling like you have a fever but feeling cool to the touch, you can't tell on yourself by feeling yourself if you have a fever!  You need to invest in the small cost of a thermometer.
