I've been waking up every day with a sore neck and back. Is there any way I can help this without medication?

  1. YES TAKE MOTRIN BEFORE BEDTIME TAKE TWO OF THE 2OOMG THAT EQUAL 400MG THAT IS WHAT THE DOCTOR WOULD ORDER FOR YOU. THEN MAKE SURE YOU USE A HEATING PAD FOR 20 MIN. THREE TIMES A DAY. ALSO USE A MORE COMFORTABLE PILLOW AND POSITION IT UNDER YOUR NECK IN A COMFORTABLE POSITION MAKING SURE IT SUPPORTS YOUR NECK. HOPE THIS HELPS IF IT DOES NOT GET BETTER IN THE NEXT 3 DAYS. CALL AND MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH AN ORTHOPEDIC DOCTOR.

  2. Yes!

    - have a massage

    - see a chiropractor

    - See a doctor to conduct some tests (to see if it's not soft tissue, i.e. nervous tissue, joint irritation, etc.)

    - try a new pillow

    - warm bath before bed with 3 cups epsom salts

    - heating pack on the areas of soreness

    - stretch before bed and when you get up

    - try a yoga class

    - try meditation to relax you before bed (you might be sleeping through stress which can leave you very unrested and tense)

    - frequent exercise encourages general body health, preventing injury and irritation

Medication is not always the answer, and I would encourage you to try other treatments and lifestyle changes before putting drugs in your body :)  If you absolutely need to get through the day before you can get to see a massage therapist or another therapist, you could take an ibuprofen (advil, etc.) to reduce sensation of pain and limit inflammation.

    Good luck, feel better!

  3. I doubt it. I have had the same problem for almost 6 years. Medicine will help you. Good luck!

  4. see a chiropractor, get a massage, try yoga, swim, soak in a hot tub, take advil/alleve, consider repetitive work that you may do, and follow up with a doctor if these tips don't bring relief.

  5. Maybe it has to do with the mattress that you are sleeping on.  Maybe try sleeping on a friends for a night and then if you are better then you need a new mattress.  If not then it would be a medical issue.  Then you would need to see your doctor.  Contact me for more assistance.
