I completed a 12k fun run on Sunday and after about 8ks my feet were sore sore, the whole soles- not any particular area. It took about 2 hours after I finished running before they stopped hurting. I never run that far and they sumtimes hurt after about 5 ks but why??? I new shoes that are right for my feet and designed for running so what gives??? thanks :o)

  1. That actually happened to me also this passed weekend. You might need more support for your feet like better socks for example. If not, then try stretching it. My coach also told me that if you're going to be on your feet a lot ( which we do as runners of course) do not wear flip flops, because they don't support your feet ( except for certain times).

  2. either your shoes are too small, even slightly.

or your feet are just cramped up because

theyre not used to running. soak them in a hot

bath and massage them for awhile. mine do that

every once in awhile. also try those gel insoles

that go in your shoes, i have some and they

    have helped alot.

  3. ummm.....its prolly cuz you...are....RUNNING

  4. maybe you have flat feet.  Lots of shoes are designed for people with arches.  If your feet are flat, they're actually getting too much support from your shoes.

  5. If you don't run often and are not accustomed to the distance that will be a big reason.  Other things to consider are the shoes you are using, and the way in which you run.  Find someone who can evaluate your running style and suggest appropriate shoes and also modify your form to minimize strain on your feet and legs.  Just remember that marathon runners sometimes end the race with broken toes, exhaustion, and numerous other problems.  Some pain is just normal after running long distances.
