Sore left wrist prompts early exit of Milwaukee Brewers Aramis Ramirez from Sunday’s game – MLB News
The Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Aramis Ramirez on Sunday, July 29, had to make an early exit from the game due to the sore left wrist. The Brewers were playing against the Washington Nationals, wherein the performance of the former did not remain satisfactory.
Only on Saturday did the Brewers lose the game to the Nationals by 4-1. However, Aramis Ramirez had played a key role in scoring there, with his 35th double of the season. Ramirez’s leaving the game on Sunday, nonetheless, was not particularly worrying for him as he said he was fine.
According to the player, he has had the problem for a while wherein his wrist encounters this problem from time-to-time. Ramirez’s message was clear that he had spoken to the manager Ron Roenicke about the problem earlier.
"I'm fine," Ramirez said on Sunday. "I could use a day, but I've been playing with it for a while now. We agreed the first day of the series that [manager Ron Roenicke] was going to give me Sunday. It's been going on for a while, but I'm good enough to go out there and play. I'm sure there's a lot of guys in here who are not 100 percent, and I'm no exception."
Even though the Brewers’ performance is not up to the mark, due to a variety of reasons, Ramirez remains an important component of the offence, emboldening it virtually on every possible occasion.
He is also getting closer to the 53 doubles’ record of Lyle Overbay – most doubles by any Brewers player in the season. But for that record to be achieved and to keep giving the team strength and power, according to the team manager, Ramirez has to stay healthy.
“We need to keep this guy healthy and swinging well," Roenicke said. "He's driving the ball to all parts of the park. He's wearing out the right-center-field wall.”
Having appeared in 94 games this season so far, Ramirez has maintained an average of .286 with 12 homers to his credit, and 61 RBIs in 360 at-bats. Therefore, the team would like to have him in the lineup sooner than later.
