Sore throat and no fever??

i have a sore throat and i'm very tired. but i have no fever. so what could it be??

  1. Probably a virus. How long have you had the sore throat? If its been over a week then you need to be checked for mono and strep.


  2. Why would you want both? Isn't a sore throat bad enough?

  3. if less than 5 days in duration, most likely a viral pharyngitis.  As much as 60% of throat infections are viral in nature and will resolve within 5-7 days.  Treatment is symptomatic: motrin for the pain, cloroseptic spray or throat lozenges for pain if it is really bad,  gargle with warm salt water 2-3 times per day.  brush your teeth 2-3 times per day to reduce the bacterial load (don't want to get a secondary infection).  Drink plenty of water and get your rest...
