Soren Kjeldsen desires to win the US Open Championship
Soren Kjeldsen will play the fourth US Open Championship, confident to be impressive in the edition staged at the Olympic Club in San Francisco, California.
The 37-year-old Danish professional golf player has played three editions in the past and was unable to record top finishes there.
It was 2005 when he displayed his debut performance at the US Open. The event was staged at the Pinehurst No. 2 and he finished tied for the 52nd position at day-end.
Then he played the second event in 2007 and missed the cut at Oakmont. Then after almost three years, he appeared again at the US Open and recorded a 33rd position, the best finish so far.
Now, he is padding up for the 2012 edition and will be performing in California. On the other hand, he desires to finish among the toppers as well.
“I’m over the moon,” he said. “I thought I played well, but I wasn’t sure if seven under was going to be enough, so I was pleasantly surprised”.
“My game is in good shape and I’ve been playing nicely. I was ill up until Wentworth last week and I struggled a little bit there, so I’m pleased I’ve come here and played well”.
“When you’re here in Surrey, sometimes you can forget it’s all for the US Open. It’s the real deal. I’ve been fortunate enough to play in it before and I can’t wait to have another chance”.
He turned professional in 1995 and won four events in total. Among them, three are at the European Tour and one at the Challenge Tour. However, since 2009, he has not won any of the events and is going through a winless era.
Kjeldsen has played many events in the current year and showed improved performance since January.
He finished the Omega Dubai Desert Classic on the 5th position, Sicilian Open on the 3rd, Maybank Malaysian Open on the 16th and Reale Seguros Open de Espana on the runner-up position.
Hence, his performance is up to the mark and he is delivering his best in the current year. He is left with ample chances to win the glory of the major event.
