  1. Take a day off. get a massage.

  2. I suggest calcium, this will also prevent cramps in the middle of the night.

    Drink more milk.

  3. STRETCH if they feel tight. if you feel like you pulled something then don't stretch and just relax! eat bananas and drink milk, take some vitamins and use icy-hot lotion, best invention in the world!!!!

    pace yourself!

    good luck!

  4. Massage the area that hurts, ice pack, and an anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen or naproxen. Do this every day, even if you're not running. It will allow your legs to heal faster. Your leg muscles are weak and need to get stronger before they won't hurt when you run. After a while they may start to hurt a little when you run, but the pain will go away after a while. You can also do exercises to strengthen the leg muscles as well when you're not running.

  5. No matter how long the run or walk, make sure you stretch before and after, especially if there are hills. Where I live, I always end up running up and down big hills, so my calves get a huge work out.  an easy stretch to keep them from getting sore is a straight leg calf stretch, as seen here:

This stretch is one of my favourites, as it is really easy to do and helps a lot.
