Sorribes Ignacio claims Women’s 200m butterfly title - FINA World Junior Championships: Day two
Day two of the 2011 FINA World Junior Championships saw an impressive swim of Sorribes Ignacio in Lima, Peru, on Wednesday, August 17. The session of the meet conducted Women’s 200m butterfly and Men’s 200m freestyle finals.
At the beginning, Spain’s Sorribes Ignacio took home Women’s 200m butterfly crown on the podium by posting a winning time of 2 minutes and 08.25 seconds. After the race, Ignacio was really contented and pleased with her immaculate splash in the meet. Meanwhile,
Alessia Polieri of Italy earned silver medal on the podium by submitting an impressive time of 2 minutes and 09.65 seconds and Miyu Otsuka snared bronze medal in the platform by posting a matchless time of 2 minutes and 11.35 seconds.
In the corresponding meet, Rachel Kelly of Great Britain wound up fourth with an impressive mark of 2 minutes and 12.23 seconds and Olivia Barker of United States of America earned fifth place honours in a time of 2 minutes and 12.50 seconds. Olivia Barker’s
team-mate, Haley Lips was placed sixth with a time of 2 minutes and 14.02 seconds, while Devon Bibault of Canada picked seventh spot in 2 minutes and 14.12 seconds. Noemie Thomas of Canada settled eighth in a time of 2 minutes and 15.89 seconds.
On the other hand, the Men’s 200m freestyle crown was snatched by Canada’s Chad Bobrosky with a winning mark of 1 minute and 49.13 seconds. In the corresponding race, Pawel Werner of Poland earned silver medal with a sterling time of 1 minute and 49.39 seconds
and Cameron McEvoy of Australia snared bronze title with a fascinating time of 1 minute and 50.12 seconds.
Fumiya Hidaka of Japan was placed fourth in a time of 1 minute and 50.18 seconds, while Andrea Arrigo D wound up fifth with a time of 1 minute and 50.56 seconds. Dmitry Ermakov of Russia settled sixth in a time of 1 minute and 50.67 seconds.
Moreover, Zach Walters of United States of America earned seventh place honours with a time of 1 minute and 51.67 seconds and Zach Walters’s team-mate, Trent Williams wound up eighth in a time of 1 minute and 52.55 seconds.
Last, but not the least, the winners were awarded medals and accolades after the session’s impressive swims.
