Sorry I am a bit confused - I know Cork is the largest county in Ireland but is it the capital?

    You're getting confused:

    Cork is both a county and a city (as is Dublin, and Waterford, and so on...)

    County Cork is the largest in area, but Cork City is not the largest in population (it's the second largest in the Republic) and it's not the capital either.

    Dublin is both capital and largest city.

  4. Yes it is Cork that is the largest county but it is Dublin that is the capital of The Republic of Ireland. Belfast is the capital of Northern Ireland.
