  1. mate timmys is great, its a coffee and donut shop (other food too) and it seems like there are thousands of them all over the place

    canadians thrive on coffee!

if ya ever get over here try a honey cruller   yummmmmmooo (almost as good as a timtam)

    naaaaaa nothing beats a timtam

  2. Tim Horton was born in 1930, and died in 1974, in a car accident.  He was from Cochrane, ON.

He was a defenseman in the NHL.  He played most notably with the Toronto Maple Leafs, but he also played with the New York Rangers, the Pittsburgh Penguins, and the Buffalo Sabres.  He was inducted in to the Hall of Fame in 1977.

He opened the first Tim Horton's donut shop in Hamilton, ON.  He took on a business partner Ron Joyce in 1967.  Ron was instrumental in making the company what it is today.  After Tim died in the car crash on the QEW in St. Catherine's, Ron Joyce bought out Tim's shares in the business from Tim's widow for $1M.  Many years later after Ron had built the business up to the success it is today, Tim's widow tried to take him to court for more money.  Her claims were denied by the courts.  She died in 2000.

As it turns out, Ron's son married Tim's daughter, so there is once again a Horton in the company.

  3. Yes, Tim Horton was a famous Canadian hockey player. He founded the coffee shop "Tim Hortons" back in the 60's.

    It's a Canadian thing too, I guess :)

  4. He was a hockey player but that's not important. He started a chain of coffee shops. Timmy's is the only fast food place that serves a decent cup of tea--ask for the steeped tea-and has the best breakfast sandwich in North America, that's the one on a biscuit.

  5. Tim Hortons is a donut and coffee shop that us Canadians take pride in? Haha.

  6. If you ask most Canadians about Tim Horton they will tell you about "Tim Horton's", (also known as "Timmy's, a nickname) a coffee and doughnut shop chain that is found across Canada and parts of the US.  In addition to doughnuts and coffee, they also sell soup and sandwiches as well as other pastry items.  The first shop was opened in 1964 in Hamilton, Ontario and has grown to be Canada's largest coffee and doughnut store chain.  It merged with the Wendy's chain in 1995 and you will often find Wendy's Hamburgers and Tim Horton's sharing the same building.  It was spun off into a separate, publicly traded company in 2006.

Tim Horton, as mentioned in a previous answer, was the founder of the chain which bears his name.  Born in Cochrane, Ontario in 1930 he joined the National Hockey League with the Toronto Maple Leafs.  He played 19 seasons with the Leafs then was traded to the New York Rangers in 1969 where he played for 2 seasons.  He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins and played one season with them before moving to the Buffalo Sabres.  He played 1 full season with them and was killed in a car crash during his 2nd season with the team while driving home from a game.  He was inducted into the NHL Hall of Fame in 1977.  Today though, as I mentioned, he is famous mainly for the chain which bears his name.

  7. a donut, pastry and coffee shop that exists in every known part of canada and even parts of the us

  8. It's a Coffe shop.. like Starbucks.. but it's about as culturally significant as Canada gets.. when they bring out a new muffin.. it's headline news..
