lewis was not considered a big puncher he was more of a technical fighter not trying to start an arguement i respect the fact that some of you think he was one of the best but he wasnt a big puncher knocking out a washed up mike tyson does knock make him a hitter like a sonny liston and george foreman look at lennox lewis pro record remember im not a big fan of his but i did see him fight LIVE

  1. Let's face it.  There are not many champions in history who would have beaten Lennox Lewis at his best.  He is the only Big man who actually knew how to fight.   Bowe could fight a bit but he was too lazy and undisciplined to train.

The difference between Lennox and guys like Forman and Liston is that, though ALL of them had POWER, Lennox didn't throw his punches with intent to KILL as did the others.   Manny Steward always tried to get Lennox to "Go all out".   It just wasn't in his nature, not always.

However, you have to give Lennox credit for his style, though not always exciting.   There were times when he could have knocked out some fighters who went the distance.  However, He also did BRUTALLY KO bigger men.  He was more cautious against guys who could box and retaliate.

Lennox had power that rivals that of the most powerful boxers in Hvt. history.   He just didn't always USE it as the Homerun Hitters used it.   Still, there are not many who would be able to deal with his size and skill and the power he brought with it.

He's fourth on my list behind ALI, Louis, Holmes.

Lewis is 4th. Forman is fifth.

  2. I would say that Ruddock, Biggs, Bruno, Morrison, Golota, Briggs, Grant, Botha and Rahman amongst others might argue with you about how hard Lennox could hit. Watch the Ruddock or Rahman KOs on youtube and tell me that Lennox isnt a big puncher.

  3. i agree with you on the part lennox lewis was not a power puncher a power puncher usually puts a man away early lennox lewis was not a fighter who went out and kod his man in the early rds i agree he was more a technical fighter but so wasnt muhummad ali as far as lennox as champion i think he beat everybody that was around in his time his chin was questionable but he had good enough defense to protect it he fought no where near the competition ali fought  but not many champions have the 1970s was the best yrs in hw boxing there will never be another era like that again as far as how lewis would of done against ali a 1987-88 mike tyson a prime evander holyfield a prime george foreman etc we will never know they were all in different eras i rate lewis at number 12 on my greatest he did rule the division in his time

  4. Lewis had one of the best right hands in Heavyweight history so to say that he wasn't a big puncher is not correct. I think it was because of his safety first style that some thought he was too cautious and didn't like to take chances and therefore a bit boring, but look at all the devastating KO's he had. Rahman 2, Ruddock, Grant, Tyson, Briggs, Golota, Bruno, and so on. These were highlight reel KO's so Lewis could definitely punch. And once Riddick Bowe saw Lewis knockout Razor Ruddock 2 weeks before Bowe won the title against Holyfield, he backed out of an already agreed deal to fight Lennox. That right hand scared Bowe. Lewis was a technical fighter but he had pop, and could get you out of there if he caught you right.
