Soudain to sizzle at Carlisle – Cap Hurdle Preview
The Steve Gollings-trained young gelding, Soudain, seems to be in a favourable position to seal an epic success in ‘Call Star Sports 0800 521321 Racing Excellence “Hands & Heels” H’ Cap Hurdle (Conditionals / Amateurs)’ at Carlisle racecourse on Thursday, March 8.
The high-profile Class 4 contest of 2m4f distance will begin at 2:10 (GMT).
For the huge prize money of £2,599, Soudain will compete against 15 runners including Eyre Apparent, Arisea, Gulf Punch, knight Valliant, Talkin Sence, Bollin Ruth, Claude Carter, Oscar Romeo, On The Right Path, Around A Pound, Belmore Baron, Markadam, Via Archimede, Dickie Henderhoop and Daniel’s Dream.
Since making his debut in March 2011, Soudain has been a consistent performer and regular winner. After winning the very first outing of his career, the brilliant gelding went on to bag a big 26-length victory on December 2011.
The P. J. Martin-owned horse finished third in a race on January 20, 2012. In his last start on February 22, he grabbed 15th spot.
As a whole, the six-year-old runner possesses outstanding track record. If he manages to capitalise on his form properly, victory will surely bend on him.
However, some of Soudain’s opponents look to be somewhat solid and they can give rather tough time to the favourite gelding.
Arisea perked up her confidence greatly by winning a couple of races during October-November 2011. James Moffatt’s bay mare finished fifth each in her last two outings during January-February 2012. She is carrying good form at the moment.
Gulf Punch gained great confidence by winning a big race during November 2011. After finishing second in a race on December 18, the trainee of Donald McCain went on to grab 6th spot in her last race in January 2012. She too owns enough fighting spirit.
Along with these runners, On The Right Path, Markadam and Via Archimede are also likely to deliver decent performances today.
By and large, there is going to be a rip-roaring competition at Carlisle. Soudain will have to fight with his back to the wall in order to thrive. Good luck to all the runners.
