Sould people be free do to what they want. . . ?

As long as;

a) it doesn't Hurt anyone else.

b) doesn't cause Damage to someone else's property.

c) doesn't Harm the environment.

Example;

I can go get falling down drunk as long as I don't fight with or hurt anyone or operate any vehicles. The only person harmed is myself.

As my Dad used to say "Everyone should have the right to be stupid... as long as it's not doing damage to someone else."

It seems to me, it's not so much a matter of allowing people to do what they want, as it is allowing them to face the consequences of their actions. Like in your example, the consequence would be a raging hangover (and maybe some broken furniture in your own house).

There is a right and wrong, and there are many natural consequences for doing the wrong thing.

Do it on your property, and as long as your actions don't cost the taxpayer money in services - why not. It's a free country (USA). h**l, we should all be allowed to smoke what we want, drink what we want and have the privacy to pray or have s*x anyway we want.
