Being unavailable for six months at the age of 33 is never a good omen for a footballer. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Souleymane-Diawara-c33850 sprained his right knee with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
The defender is out for at least six months which means that he will miss Marseille’s last nine Ligue 1 games and their Coupe de http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130. Aged 33, the Senegalese could even have psychological issues due to such an injury.
However, Diawara has chosen not to drown himself in self-pity.
In a refreshing interview to L’Equipe, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Senegal-c3001 international said that though he is not denying the seriousness of his situation, he will not let the issue consume him up because he is going to return to his best by September when the new campaign begins.
Despite being on the wrong side of 30s, the Senegalese says that age is not a problem for him that through the support of his family and friends, he will pull through.
“Wait, life goes on. I do not take this injury as a joke. But I also see what is happening right now in the news. You want me to complain? I play in one of the best French clubs, in a city that lives for football. I’m going to have surgery, and then I will
do everything to return.”
However, Didier Deschamps will now have to find a good partner in the squad for young Nicolas N’Koulou.
Souleymane Diawara admits that he was disgusted after finding out that he will miss football fur such a lengthy duration.
“My knee is slightly swollen. I ice it. If I am annoyed, do you believe that it will repair my ligaments?,” laughed a motivated Diawara who is certainly mature enough to know that he should not let the injury take a hold of him.
It will certainly take more than a cruciate ligament for Diawara to say goodbye to football.
