Sound Card or Software XP Pro Sp2?

Question

I get a driver error #39 can't load driver.

No matter what I have done, removed drivers reloaded drivers, ran OS repair, reloaded OS, Asus has it's owns drivers like Dell

MB is Asus integrated sound card. I added a sound card..

It reads the card.

I am wits end. I am retired from IT and in all my years never had this happen. I am about ready to chalk this one up and put in a new mboard. HELP Any Help

Odd because code 39 is usually associated with Rom drives.

Have you tried a different slot for the card in case its in a shared slot and is conflicting with another device?

if possible use device manager to disable the integrated sound , the 2 cards might be conflicting if both are active, the latest drivers from asus will help too
